People are having trouble with all the at-home time. I suggest we use this time to prepare power for Field Day. As I understand, Field Day 2020 will be from homes with emergency power

Here is what I have so far to send to CARC:

Something to do while sheltering in place: prepare for Field Day and emergencies.

CARC Field Day 2020 will be from home stations using emergency power. Here are some ideas for providing emergency/backup power for your station. The first is a list of QST articles from ARRL:

   http://www.arrl.org/emergency-alternative-power

The February, 2020 issue of QST had an article "The Evolution of Power" by Bob Bruninga (who started APRS) which includes some new ideas about backup power from electric vehicles.

Some Youtube videos on emergency and portable power:

A presentation:

download/save and view the PDF file.

Portable Parks on the Air video (with a 20 Ah Lithium batter):

It would be hard to beat sitting at a table in your back yard with a setup like this for Field Day (you can use your home antenna. There are many additional videos on this page....

Details of a battery backup system (3 parts), technical details; somewhat dated, but many useful ideas. The 2 volt wet cell system is similar to the old backup power supply for the Mount Elden ARA repeaters:

Remember: Lithium batteries require special chargers.

Suggestions???
