RulesCommittee

Scott (KY7A) was correct. The Field Day Program and Services Committee is not going to allow my interpretation of the rules. We can operate our individual stations using our own calls. But we cannot operate as a club under Class D or E and aggregate our scores. See below. Note that the Committee is working on a way for us - operating as individual Class or D or Class E entrants - can report our Club affiliations.

Field Day is structured so it provides options of operation other than a group or a club, since these are unusual circumstances, there ill likely be more Class D and E entrants this year. The members of a club as more then welcome to operate their own stations, under their own callsigns. Since those stations will not lie within 1000 feet of each other, they cannot combine their score under one callsign- see Class A rules below:

4.1. (Class A) Club / non-club portable: Club or a non-club group of three or more persons set up specifically for Field Day. Such stations must be located in places that are not regular station locations and must not use facilities installed for permanent station use, or use any structure installed permanently for Field Day. A single licensee or trustee for the entry is responsible for the group entry. All equipment (including antennas) must lie within a circle whose diameter does not exceed 300 meters (1000 feet). To be listed as Class A, all contacts must be made with transmitter(s) and receiver(s) operating independent of commercial power mains.

Since Field Day is not a contest, and there are no awards or certificates issued, we also do not do aggregate club scoring for individual participants. We are working on reporting individual Class D and E entrants so that their affiliated club will show in the results. The Program and Services Committee, who oversee any rule changes for Field Day met last week, and they concluded that we will not make any rules changes for this year.

Subject: Rules Question

Can members of a Club operate a number of stations from home locations as a group with all stations using a Club call as a single class D or class E entrant?
I understand that the stations in a group would have to coordinate and not have more than one station operating in a single band-mode slot at any one time.
And I understand that the Trustee would have to approve use of the club call (KC7KCN or W7YS) in this manner.

I can see nothing in the Field Day Rues or FCC Regulations which would prohibit this operation.

In normal (non-COVID-19) years, our local clubs (CARC and NADXA) set up field operation and operate class A, but these are not normal years!

Thanks in advance for your consideration.
